Lesson 2 from "Mama," girls...

Is respect for one another and learning to use oneanother's gifts appropriately. You are attempting to be individual and capable by yourself, but while you are a group, know who does what well. Mama, was good at cyphering and therefore she kept the books for the family. Papa looked over and worked hard, but he deferred to Mama in this. This is good to know who does what better and let the one who does well, do it. This is not disrespect to Papa that he didn't keep the books. He was still leader, even though silent, in that sense.
Mama talks to the younger sister and says you are timid, you cannot allow your husband to also be timid it is not good that both be timid in a family. She makes boyfriend prove his love by speaking to uncle about the upcoming marriage. This is wisdom and the law of kindness in action. Her wise older loving nurture forces the couple to make decisions about the future which will impact the entire community. When women do not nuture those types of community relationships, the fabric of society is disintegrating.
What caused Rome to fall? What caused every society to fall? The means of communication between families unchecked and growing faster than the rate of parental supervision. When the cart is leading the horse, usually it means we are going into a ditch. Get out of the cart and push it, slowly, back up the hill. Do what you do well and let she who does well do that.
